I started working at Chestergates when I was 18 years old. I gained experience as a veterinary care assistant for around a year. I then enrolled to start my diploma in veterinary nursing. I thoroughly enjoyed my time studying through the nursing school. The teaching team was always there to answer any questions and offer their advice and assistance. I was always encouraged and supported to continually develop my knowledge and explore different disciplines of veterinary nursing. Since qualifying I have travelled and lived in Australia for several years nursing in both large and small animal practices. In January 2020, I returned home and started working back at Chestergates Veterinary Specialists, where I have progressed towards team leader. Although, I have worked in many practices during my veterinary career I always feel at home working at CVTC.
So far, I am really enjoying the course and can’t seem to think of a reason that would change. It has made coming back to a classroom environment at an older age very inviting.
The atmosphere created by Tom, Amber and the rest of my classmates is non-judgmental, warm and productive. Large, potentially boring topics are easy to digest through the mix of PowerPoint, verbal communication, group work and handouts.
The mix of learning tools used make the class accessible to everyone. I have found the weekly quizzes a great reminder to study for and excellent revision aid.
All the staff are very welcoming and approachable. The course in itself is informative, easy to follow and the way it is taught to us breaks it down nicely to smaller amounts, which allows us to take it in better.
The resources on Knowledge Hub are easy to access and helpful to what we need, always updated to ensure that we can follow the lecture on our own devices. The quizzes that are given to us weekly also help with remembering what we did the week before, and allow us to go over what we need more practice on.
I passed!! Yay After having time off for maternity towards the end of my course and then coming back into work and sitting my OSCEs I honestly don’t think I would have passed if I had not attended the day with you. So a massive thank you!
I am really enjoying the course so far and I can’t wait to learn more! The tutors are great and make learning easier by always offering support and guidance in college and with any guided learning, we have.

Received results this morning and I passed :) I found the revision session with yourselves helpful, just doing it somewhere new and different around people I didn't know helped a lot.
Helped me stay a lot more relaxed for the day and i think that really helped!

Knowledgeable and helpful staff. Engaging and involve thewhole class during discussions. Regular quizzes or cahoots to help us see whatwe need to read-up on etc. A heavy topic has been made to feel lessoverwhelming by Tom and Ambers delivery.
CVTC is one of the most welcoming Centres I have been at. All staff members are happy and incredibly helpful. Information is provided in a clear way and is easy to understand. The way the topic is presented to us, has been done in such a way we are not overwhelmed.
Progress is monitored and ifhelp is needed there is an “open-door” feeling where it feels okay and comfortable to seek help and advice on topics. Overall, I really enjoy my time here and look forward to the next few years :)
Tom and Amber have made content heavy topics interesting and engaging. Small quiz tests help gage what exams will be like and the sort of content/questions to expect.
Interactive tasks with peers help widen and share knowledge. Knowledge Hub easy to navigate with useful resources.
I am enjoying my learning experience, despite it all feeling very new and a little overwhelming at times. The team are very supportive, engaging and more importantly approachable.
VN01 topics have been quite ‘heavy’ in their nature but I feel we have not been overloaded and information is put in and delivered in a manageable way. I also like the quizzes each week, which helps to consolidate our learning.
The tutors are always there to answer any questions. They make topics that are more tedious engaging and enjoyable. Everyone is willing to offer advice and assistance. As a training college, they have been able to turn tedious topics into things that are interesting.
From the beginning, I was told that there would be a lot of information to get through. However, the way it has been taught so far it is less overwhelming. They have made it interesting by having different activities.
